For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
John 3:16
The Irish are known to be very superstitious people. If you drive through the countryside of Ireland, it is common to see a fairy tree in the middle of a cultivated field. Though the tree looks out of place, it usually indicates that the farmers decided not to try their luck by chopping it down. Irish folklore says fairy trees are magical and a gateway or portal for fairies to travel from their world to ours. Supposedly, you can find these portals anywhere if you know where to look, but they are usually found at the base of a beautiful fairy tree. To chop down a sacred fairy tree is to bring years of bad luck upon yourself and your family. These trees are protected by many Irish who still believe in the old superstition to this day.
I remember being captivated by these entertaining tales of ethereal fairies, evil leprechauns, and portals to their world. The Irish are some of the best storytellers I’ve ever heard. But I was never so grateful to know that it was merely entertainment.
Friend, you and I do not need to count on fairy faith or luck! I praise God for a clear and concise gospel and that we do not need to look for gateways or portals to another world. I have trouble finding my way to the turnpike expressway as it is! If we love Jesus and have committed our hearts to Him, we are headed for eternity – heaven. The way to heaven is through our belief in the Son of God. Faith is the gateway or portal to eternity. There is no magic, no pixie dust – just faith, just Jesus.
There is no power in a tree or a statue. But there is power in the blood of Jesus. Thousands of years ago, He shed His blood on a splintery cross so that you and I would spend eternity with Him. The ransom that He paid set us free. We do not need to rely on a tree, but rather, The One who died on a tree only to be resurrected. Jesus sits on the right hand of His Father and intercedes for us every day and for every situation we face. He brings us peace, protection, and provision, and He loves us more than we will ever understand on this side of heaven. I hope and pray that you know our King because He knows you and is calling you to Him. If you would like to make Him the Lord of your life and secure your seat in eternity, confess the prayer below.
Prayer:
Father, I thank You for the power of the cross. I invite You to be the Lord of my life. I believe God raised You from the dead, and therefore, I am saved. I ask the Holy Spirit to guide me and grow my desire to seek You. God, I am so grateful that I do not need to rely on magic or luck, because you are more than enough! I love You, sweet and mighty Father.
Amen
