Healer of Heartbreak

The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.

Psalm 34:18

Heartbreak can be one of the hardest trials we will suffer in this lifetime. The heartbreak of losing a loved one becomes a scar so deep we never really get over the loss, we merely learn to function with it. The heartbreak of a broken marriage, or a spouse who walked out and quit can become paralyzing. The lasting effects of this kind of trauma often take us years to work through. Some of us are heartbroken over the the loss of a dream,  something we greatly desired and worked hard to bring to fruition only to see it fail. Heartbreak. It hurts, it leaves us broken and tired and sometimes hopeless.

Do you know that the Lord is near to you? He is there, in that room with you, at your job, beside you in your car. He traces the trail of tears on your face and I have no doubt He cries with us. He loves you so much friend! He desires to heal your heartbreak.

Friend, I need you to take one step.

Decide today, right now, that you are going to cling to The Healer of heartbreak. That means pressing in and telling Him how you feel about all that you have lost. Surrender your heartbreak to Him. Trust Him with your pain and be honest about your disappointment. Sharing with Him is critical. Ask Him “Why?” He can take it, and He is ok with that! He is God. He can handle your questions, He can handle your crushed spirit, and He can handle your healing. But we must lean in and abide in The One who has the power to heal, the power to resolve, and the power to redeem!

Ask and He will give you, seek Him and you will find Him, knock and He will gladly open His door to you (Matthew 7:7-8). What a beautiful promise. He is waiting, friend.

Prayer:

Father — no matter what touches my life I will cling to You and not let go! No matter what my circumstances are screaming, I will cling to Your promises of protection and guidance. Lord, I trust that You will comfort me through the trials and heartbreak I face. Thank You, Jesus, for loving me in such a passionate and relentless way. I give You my heartbreak and every disappointment. Take it from me. Wrap me in Your arms, allow me to feel Your healing presence over me now. I love You, Jesus.

Amen
